Attorney Kris Willocx obtained his Master’s degree in Commercial Sciences at the Hogeschool-Universiteit Brussel (HUB). After his initial studies, he further completed the Bachelor’s programme in Law at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KUL) and he graduated as a Master of Economic Law at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB).

During the summer of 2004, he broadened his knowledge of the English legal system at the London School of Economics and Political Sciences (LSE).

In 2005, he was selected to participate in the 43st Graduate Study Programme of the United Nations (UN) in Geneva where he was a member of the working group on economic and social development.

In 2010, he was selected to participate at the ‘Columbia Summer Program in American Law’ in Leiden (Netherlands), a program which has been organised since 1963 by the law faculties of Leiden and Amsterdam in cooperation with the Columbia University in the City of New York.

After an internship at the office of bailiff Frank SPRUYT in Brussels, he decided to take the lawyer’s oath. Kris was trained under attorney-at-law Sandra GOBERT of the SUB ROSA law firm and was fully admitted to the Brussels Bar after the three year compulsory training.

During 2010-2011, he further completed his postgraduate studies in ‘Corporate Finance’ at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KUL) and in 2014 he started working as an Official Receiver (liquidations/judicial composition/bankruptcy). Since september 2014, he is Section Head of the Legal Aid Office of the Brussels Bar. On the 14th of January 2016, he became certificate holder of the ‘Special Formation on Supreme Court Procedure in Criminal cases’.

During his studies and working years, he had the opportunity to get in contact with a diversity of languages and cultures that enabled him to improve his command of French, English and German, besides a basic knowledge of Italian.

‘Lifelong learning’ is not only his guiding motif, but he also strived to obtain the practical experiences. Kris has experience in a wide range of business sectors, gained through a variety of jobs and internships, such as AstraZeneca, Servisair, SaraLee/Douwe Egberts, Nokia, Unilever, Axa/Winterthur, BNP Paribas Fortis and Aviapartner.
